# How Can I Create a Schema-Only Salesforce Backup?

To create a schema-only CopyStorm backup, you can:

1. Start with an empty database.
2. Go to the “Configuration” tab.
3. Select the “[Guardrails](https://learn.capstorm.com/reference/configuration-tab/guardrails)” configuration section.
4. Check the “Schema Only Backup” option.
5. Press “Start Copy”.

This will cause CopyStorm to start a new backup, create tables in the database, and copy no table data!

After the CopyStorm backup has completed, the backup database will contain an empty Salesforce schema that is compatible with CopyStorm/Restore.

If new tables or fields are added to the Salesforce instance, running CopyStorm again with the same configuration will update the database with the new or modified tables and fields.
