# Search

The Search stage is used to start the search and to view progress while a search is running. If a search has not been started this stage will contain a button to start the first search:

Once a search has started the page will display search status. Status for each table being searched is shown in the main portion of the dialog, with a summary of search statistics shown near the top of the dialog.

To stop a running search press the Cancel button near the bottom of the dialog.

After the search has completed the Search stage will display a summary of search statistics, including the total time to search each table and the total number of matched records.

The Discard Results and Restart the Search button will re-run the search using the current set of parameters — to re-run with different search terms, change the parameters in the Parameters or Tables stage and press the Discard Results and Restart the Search button.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://learn.capstorm.com/copystorm-search/reference/search.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
