Release Date: 28-Apr-2026
This is a feature, bug fix, and Salesforce API version upgrade release. As always existing Copystorm configuration files are backwards compatible.
This release updates CopyStorm to use Salesforce API version 65.
28-Apr-2026
Original Release
Salesforce API version 65 deprecates the SOAP username/password login endpoint. Customers should migrate to an external client application configured with OAuth. CopyStorm jobs using a login type that does not support API 65 will automatically fall back to API 64, and an exception will be logged at the start of each job as a reminder to migrate.
This exception can not be eliminated until OAuth authentication is used.
Salesforce API Version Fallback for Username/Password Logins
The "Fallback API Detected" error does not stop jobs from running - it is informational, and indicates that CopyStorm is not able to use the most recent Salesforce API features. The error will be resolved when updating to JWT (or other OAuth) authentication.
Please reference .
Support for Single Column Rebuild on ALTER Failures
This release introduces automatic column rebuild for Salesforce datatype changes that are incompatible with SQL. Previously this requred manual intervention, but these fixes will now be automatic! For example, changing a Text field to a Number field will now be done at runtime. This new feature is on by default and will automatically rebuild and repopulate database columns when Salesforce schema changes are not compatible with the database. The previous column is kept in the database using a different column name.
Headless Snapshot Policy Execution
CopyStorm can now execute snapshot rules for snapshot polices using the command line. See the documentation for command formatting.
Metadata Exclusion Selection
Configuration of metadata backup can now be done with Include or Exclude lists - using similar configurations as Salesforce object selection. This update introduces exclusion lists, which lets users back up all Metadata objects except specific objects that should be ignored.
Job History Table Sorting
The table showing past job executions within the History tab can now be sorted by each column.
Snapshot Deletion Improvement During Object Replication
This version of CopyStorm centralizes Snapshot Record cleanup to the end of the replication job to ensure that replication for other objects is not blocked during record cleanup, improving job runtime.
Salesforce OAuth 2.0 JWT Login Improvement
This release introduces a new, friendlier certificate management feature to help transition from Username / Password Salesforce logins to certificate-based JWT logins.
This feature will help you transition to a supported login type, in preparation for Salesforce's deprecation of Username/Password API logins.

For PostgreSQL warn a user if the specified schema does not exists.
This update brings CopyStorm up to the latest API from Salesforce. Most sites will not even notice, but we like to keep current.
A wonderful customer found a condition under which the backup on a table could stop prematurely when a white list of tables was not specified, a high degree of parallelization was used, and a time out happened on two different tables under just the right circumstances. The fix was a single line of code but a bit hard to reproduce 😉
No data was lost because subsequent backups will continue the backup of the table when the previous backup stopped prematurely.

Original Release
Salesforce Summer’20 API went GA last weekend and this CopyStorm version is using it! There are two things you may notice:
Salesforce added quite a few new tables in Summer’20.
Nearly all Salesforce History tables have a new column call DataType. CopyStorm will automatically add this column to your existing history tables and begin to populate it.
CopyStorm now supports a data retention policy for backed up metadata. You can specific how many days to keep backed up metadata before deleting it from the database. The default policy is to never delete backed up metadata.
CopyStorm will support SQL/Server tables with more than 1024 columns by automatically converting excess columns into SQL/Server sparse columns. Sparse columns support up to 30,000 total column in a single table.
In preparation for major new features in the Fall 2020 archive subsystem, the archive editor has been refactored to support archive policies with more extensive parameterization.

CopyStorm has been updated with a new feature to approve and use local network certificates for sites where local network traffic is being encrypted using a local custom certificate. Once custom certificates are accepted, CopyStorm will trust the accepted certificates for HTTPS network traffic.
When replicating Attachment and ContentVersion records from Salesforce – if the Attachment or ContentVersion record contains a potentially dangerous file that is flagged by the CopyStorm server’s virus scanner – the potentially dangerous file will be logged by CopyStorm. After logging the file details, CopyStorm will continue replicating other Attachment and ContentVersion records until the backup has completed.
If an Attachment or ContentVersion is logged as potentially dangerous, the file details will be available in the Skipped Record Log Explorer.
CopyStorm replication to Microsoft SQL/Server has been updated with a number of additional configuration options:
Reference field values may be sent to the database as either String values or as byte[] values.
Database tables are now automatically reindexed based on index fragmentation.
A new XML configuration file may be used to add additional parameters to the Java runtime used to launch CopyStorm – this allows additional parameters (e.g. “-Xmx”) to be added outside of the CopyStorm launch script.
CopyStorm has been updated to resolve a Windows-specific issue with SQL/Server integrated security connections in Java 17.
Release Date: 17-Apr-2024

Attachment.Body
ContentVersion.VersionData
With this release, CopyStorm introduces a configuration option “Automatic Schema Upgrades” to configure approval for CopyStorm-internal schema upgrades. If the “Automatic Schema Upgrades” checkbox is not checked, then CopyStorm will not upgrade CopyStorm-internal tables (e.g. CopyForceTable, CopyForceTableField) without user authorization.
Schema changes are displayed, along with descriptions and the SQL used to implement the schema change.
CopyStorm has been updated to support a much higher level of parallelism when querying for Salesforce Metadata – and a new parameter “# Metadata Threads” has been added to the “Configuration” tab.
Long Table Name Support.
This release updates CopyStorm to support very long Salesforce table names – i.e. table names far longer than the maximum. This allows support for managed packages whose combined prefix, table name, and postfix (e.g. “__History”) are longer than 64 characters.

An issue that could cause records to be duplicated in Snowflake replication has been resolved.
Base64 File Download Improvements.
The CopyStorm Base64 File Download system has been updated to accommodate transient failures by retrying failed downloads multiple times.
Base64 Chunking File Deletion.
An issue where the “Base64 Chunking” option would cause temporary Base64 files to not be cleaned up has been resolved.
Field History Exception Fix.
An issue causing CopyStorm’s Field History feature to report an error and fail to record changes when the only detected changes are to system audit fields has been resolved.
Database Storage Logging Changes.
An issue causing the “Log Table Sizes” option to log an incorrect value for the final table size has been resolved.
The “Log Table Sizes” parameter has also been updated to default-off (changed from default-on).
Auto-Cancel on Salesforce Reconnect.
CopyStorm has been updated to automatically cancel the job when Salesforce becomes unreachable or the user is locked out while the job is running.
History Viewer Fix.
An issue causing the job log viewer to display an error for CopyStorm history records with no recorded start time has been resolved.

Original Release
Release Date: 16-Dec-2024
This is a feature, bug fix, and Salesforce API version upgrade release. As always, existing CopyStorm configuration files are backwards compatible.
16-Dec-2024
Original Release
This release updates CopyStorm to use Salesforce API version 62.
This release focuses on customer experience and bug fixes. Notable items include:
API Threshold Option: CopyStorm will not use more than the specified percentage of API calls in a day.
Snowflake Updates: Focus on improving the performance of Salesforce to Snowflake data extracts.
This release introduces a new feature that provides additional control over Salesforce API call consumption. The setting allows you to set a percentage value that will prevent a CopyStorm job from starting if Salesforce Organization’s API utilization is above the provided percentage. For example, if the API Threshold is set to 80, CopyStorm will not run if the current Salesforce API use is >80% of the total allowed API calls.
Snowflake JDBC Driver: Update
Upgrade the Snowflake JDBC Driver to support JDK 21.
Option to specify a Role when connecting to Snowflake: Feature
Adds the option to provide a ‘Role’ when using the connection string builder to create the database connection to Snowflake
Default exclusion of SalesforceQuote, AssetStatePeriodAttribute, and PendingOrderSummary objects: Update
These objects are non-restorable with undocumented query restrictions
Metadata Thread Count: Update
Reduce the default Metadata thread count to “5” to optimize performance. Higher thread counts often lead to exceptions during the metadata backup.
Snapshot Name Trimming: Improvement
Trims extra whitespace on the end of Snapshot Names is. This is designed to alleviate confusion when searching for Snapshot names.
Zero-Length Base64 Handling: Fix
Resolves an issue that causes zero-length file bodies to halt a CopyStorm job in certain scenarios.
Max Memory Limit in AppLoader.xml: Improvement
Adds an option to AppLoader.xml that can set -Xmx to a percentage of system RAM.
Formula Fields Definition: Fix
Fixes an issue that prevents certain Formula field definitions from updating properly in the database.
Release Date: 12-Jan-2024
This is a minor feature and bug fix release. As always, existing CopyStorm configuration files are backwards compatible.
CopyStorm has been updated to support CopyStorm Table Partitions created by the CopyStorm/Medic Partition Editor tool. This feature enables database partitioning, needed if the number of fields in one or more Salesforce objects is close to exceeding the number of columns supported by your target database. After Partitions are created using CopyStorm/Medic, CopyStorm will automatically insert and update records in the correct partition(s).
Release Date: 15-Sept-2023
This is a minor feature and bug fix release. As always, existing CopyStorm configuration files are backwards compatible.
This release increases the maximum metadata name length that can be stored in the database – allowing metadata items with longer names to be copied.
Update to prevent parallel jobs from creating duplicate records: Fix
Resolve issue where duplicate records can be inserted to Snowflake if multiple CopyStorm jobs are running at the same time writing to the same Snowflake database.
Add SocialPersona as Reserved Word: Fix
The “Following” column in the “SocialPersona” table is added to the list of reserved words in Snowflake.
Capture MaxTimestamp in UTC: Fix
The ‘maxTimestamp’ column in “CopyForceTable” is stored in UTC time rather than in local time.
Update CSV Transfer Process: Fix
Resolves an issue where CSV flushes to the database halted the rest of the extract process. The extract will now continue in parallel with the CSV transfer to Snowflake.
This also resolves an issue that can potentially skip a single batch of records.
HyperForce “Upstream Error” Handling: Improvement
HyperForce specific “Upstream Error” exceptions now include additional details in the error messages.
Notifications Tab: Fix
Fixes an issue where the “Send Email To” parameter did not update in the UI when switching configuration files.
“Excluded Audit Fields”: Fix
Address an issue where “LastModifiedDate” and “LastModifiedId” are not properly excluded from Field History.
Extract to CSV: Fix
Resolves an initialization issue encountered when initially copying records to a fresh directory.
Hierarchical Snapshots scanning: Fix
Resolves an issue where some grandchild records can get skipped during a Hierarchical Snapshot scan due to threading issues.
Metadata Case Insensitivity: Fix
Adjustment to ensure that an exception is not generated when the case changes for an object name.
TenantSecurityMonitorMetric: Fixed Reserved Word
Resolves an issue while copying the Count column from the “TenantSecurityMonitorMetric” object due to a reserved word.
This release introduces the “Permission Set Creator” – a new feature to create and maintain a complete Salesforce backup by ensuring that the Salesforce user has access to read all Salesforce objects and fields.
This is a feature beta with access available upon request.
The “History” tab has been updated to make it easier to identify problem CopyStorm jobs – in-progress jobs do not have a color, successful jobs are green, and if a job has any Exceptions, then it is colored red.
CopyStorm can now be deployed as a Docker container which includes core CapStorm applications and functionality via a web server. Reference CapStorm/Container documentation for additional information, or schedule some time with our team to hear more!

The updated maximum value of the “fileName” field on the SFMetaFileProperties and SFMetaFilePropertiesHistory tables is:
500
An XML configuration parameter has been added for CopyStorm to create database table and field names in all-caps, instead of mirroring Salesforce’s capitalization. This change does not impact existing databases, and the default continues to be mirroring Salesforce’s API Name capitalization.
An XML configuration parameter has been added for CopyStorm to remove text from the end of API names in the database – this can be used to remove the “__c” from custom objects and fields, the “__b” from big objects, etc… This change does not impact existing databases, and the default continues to be mirroring Salesforce’s API names exactly as provided via the Salesforce API.
This update works around issues in certain Oracle and PostgreSQL database configurations which could cause fields containing a Vertical Tab (ASCII Character code 11) to fail to write to the snapshot.
Resolve a performance issue in SQL/Server that could cause schema updates to take excess memory and CPU.
Resolve a UI issue that could prevent the “Edit” button for CopyStorm Field History configuration from being enabled properly.
