# Restore Wizard

The **Restore Wizard** guides you through restoring Salesforce data from a CopyStorm backup stored in your CS:Container database back into a target Salesforce org. It walks you step-by-step through selecting records to restore, configuring how the restore should behave, scanning for candidate records, uploading records, and then reviewing detailed results and a final summary.

Use this workflow to recover data, correct unintended data changes, or selectively restore a subset of records to production or sandbox.

## Wizard Steps

* [Step 1: Select Records](/capstorm-container/reference/restore-wizard/step-1-select-records.md) — select the object and records that will be uploaded to Salesforce.
* [Step 2: Configuration](/capstorm-container/reference/restore-wizard/step-2-configuration.md) — configure data upload parameters (insert/update behavior, related record depth, automation handling).
* [Step 3: Scan Records](/capstorm-container/reference/restore-wizard/step-3-scan-records.md) — query the database for records matching the restore criteria.
* [Step 4: Upload Data](/capstorm-container/reference/restore-wizard/step-4-upload-data.md) — insert or update candidates into the target Salesforce.
* [Step 5: View Results](/capstorm-container/reference/restore-wizard/step-5-view-results.md) — view record upload results.
* [Step 6: Summary](/capstorm-container/reference/restore-wizard/step-6-summary.md) — view an overview of record restore activity.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://learn.capstorm.com/capstorm-container/reference/restore-wizard.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
